Description
Lokmal Dispersible is an antimalarial combination containing artemether and lumefantrine. It is used to treat:
• Uncomplicated malaria
• Malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum
Dissolve the tablet in a small amount of clean water and give immediately. Administer with food or milk to improve absorption. Ensure the full dose is taken at each scheduled time and complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
Dosage is based on body weight and medical advice. General guidelines include:
• Children 5–14 kg: 1 tablet per dose
• Children 15–24 kg: 2 tablets per dose
• Children 25–34 kg: 3 tablets per dose
• Given twice daily for 3 days (total of 6 doses)
• Second dose taken 8 hours after the first, then every 12 hours
Lokmal Dispersible is generally well tolerated.
Possible side effects include:
• Nausea or vomiting
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Loss of appetite
