Description

What is Daktarin Cream?

Daktarin Cream is a medicated topical treatment used to eliminate fungal infections and certain types of bacteria that often infect the skin. It is primarily used to treat:

  • Athlete’s Foot (itching/cracking between toes).

  • Jock Itch (fungal infection in the groin area).

  • Ringworm (circular, red, itchy skin rashes).

  • Fungal Nappy Rash in infants.

  • Intertrigo (infections in skin folds, such as under the breasts or armpits).

How do I apply Daktarin Cream?
  • Cleanse: Wash the affected area and dry it thoroughly. Use a separate towel for the infected area to avoid spreading the fungus.
  • Apply: Use your fingertips to rub a small amount of cream gently into the affected area and the surrounding skin.
  • Hygiene: Wash your hands immediately after application.
  • Clothing: If treating the feet, wear clean cotton socks and change them daily. If treating the body, wear loose-fitting clothing.
What dosage do I take?
  • To ensure the infection is completely wiped out, follow these general guidelines:

  • Frequency: Apply the cream twice daily (usually morning and night).

  • Duration: Most infections clear up in 2–6 weeks.

What are the potential side effect?
  • Daktarin is very safe for most people, including children and infants. However, minor reactions can occur:

  • Local Irritation: Mild stinging, redness, or itching where the cream was applied.

  • Skin Rash: Very rare allergic contact dermatitis.

  • Warfarin Interaction: Crucial Note: Even when used on the skin, Miconazole can occasionally interact with Warfarin (a blood thinner), potentially increasing the risk of bleeding. Consult your doctor if you are on anticoagulants.
