Description
Melanovate is a very high-potency topical corticosteroid containing Clobetasol Propionate. It is designed to treat severe skin conditions that do not respond to milder steroids. It is used to relieve:
• Psoriasis
•Severe eczema and dermatitis
• Lichen planus
• Discoid lupus erythematosus
• Persistent skin redness and swelling.
Wash and dry the affected area before application. Apply a thin film of the cream and rub it in gently. Wash your hands immediately after use unless your hands are the area being treated. Do not cover the area with bandages or dressings unless instructed by a doctor.
Usage should be strictly controlled due to the high potency of the medication:
• Application: Typically applied 1–2 times daily
• Maximum Duration: Do not use for more than 2 consecutive weeks without medical review
• Quantity: Do not exceed 50 g of cream per week
• Avoid application on the face, groin, or underarms unless specifically directed by a healthcare professional
Melanovate is highly effective but can cause skin changes if used incorrectly. Possible side effects include:
• Skin thinning (atrophy)
• Burning or stinging sensation
• Stretch marks or visible small blood vessels
• Changes in skin pigmentation
Severe Warning: Avoid prolonged use or application to large areas of the body, as this can lead to systemic absorption and adrenal suppression. Not recommended for children under 12 years of age without specialist supervision. Store in a cool, dry place and keep out of reach of children.
