Description
Dermovate Cream contains Clobetasol Propionate, one of the most powerful topical steroids available. It is prescribed for inflammatory skin disorders that have not responded to weaker corticosteroid treatments. It is used to relieve: • Psoriasis (stubborn plaques) • Severe or recurring eczema • Lichen planus (itchy, purple-toned skin bumps) • Discoid lupus erythematosus • Intense itching and inflammation It works by inhibiting the release of inflammatory substances in the body, rapidly reducing swelling, redness, and the urge to scratch.
Wash and dry the affected area before use. Apply a very thin layer only to the affected skin and rub in gently. Wash your hands thoroughly after application. Unless directed by a doctor, do not cover the area with plastic wraps or bandages, as this can cause too much medicine to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Due to its high strength, usage must be limited and monitored:
• Application: Apply sparingly 1–2 times daily.
• Maximum Dose: Do not use more than 50 g of cream per week.
• Duration: Use for the shortest time possible. Treatment should not exceed 4 consecutive weeks without a medical evaluation.
• Restrictions: Avoid using on the face, groin, or underarms unless specifically instructed, as the skin in these areas is thinner and more prone to side effects.
Dermovate is highly effective but can cause skin and systemic issues if overused. Possible side effects include: • Skin thinning (atrophy) or stretch marks • Burning, stinging, or irritation at the application site • Changes in skin color or “spider veins” • Excessive hair growth (hypertrichosis)
