The Consistency Rule: You must take your dose at the exact same time every day to maintain a perfectly steady level of the medication in your bloodstream.The Grapefruit Warning: Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while using this medication. Grapefruit contains compounds that block the enzymes that break down amlodipine, which can cause the drug levels to spike dangerously and lead to an unexpected, sharp drop in your blood pressure.
Amlodipine tablets are widely manufactured in two primary therapeutic strengths: 5mg and 10mg.
Starting Adult Dose: The standard initial routine is usually 5mg taken once daily.
Maintenance & Escalation: If your blood pressure requires tighter control after a few weeks, your treatment plan may be safely adjusted up to a maximum dose of 10mg once daily.
Missed Dose Rule: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if your next scheduled dose is less than 12 hours away, skip the missed dose entirely and resume your regular schedule. Never take two tablets at the same time to catch up.
