What is Camosunate?
Camosunate is a fixed-dose antimalarial medication containing:
- Artesunate – a fast-acting antimalarial
- Amodiaquine – a longer-acting partner drug
It is used to:
- Treat uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria
- Rapidly reduce malaria parasites in the blood
- Prevent recurrence and resistance when used correctly
How do I take Camosunate?
Take the tablets or suspension with food to enhance absorption.
- Use exactly as prescribed do not skip doses
- Complete the full 3-day treatment course even if symptoms improve
- Shake suspension well if using the liquid form for children
What dosage do I take?
Dosage depends on age and weight:
- Children >35 kg: 1 tablet daily for 3 days
- Children under 35 kg: Dose adjusted by weight (use pediatric formulation)
- Do not exceed prescribed dose
- Only use under medical supervision
