Coartem Dispersible is a child-friendly antimalarial tablet that contains:
- Artemether – fast-acting to kill malaria parasites
- Lumefantrine – long-acting to prevent recurrence
It is used to:
- Treat uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria in children
- Provide a sweet-tasting, easy-to-swallow alternative to regular tablets
- Ensure full clearance of malaria parasites when taken as prescribed
How do I take Coartem Dispersible?
Place the tablet in a small amount of clean drinking water.
- Let it fully disperse before giving to the child
- Give with food or milk to improve absorption
- Follow the 6-dose schedule over 3 days, even if the child feels better
What dosage do I take?
Dosing is based on body weight:
- 5 to <15 kg: 1 tablet per dose
- 15 to <25 kg: 2 tablets per dose
- Given in 6 doses: at 0, 8, 24, 36, 48, and 60 hours
- Use only under medical supervision and complete the full course
