Description
Ketofung contains ketoconazole, a broad-spectrum antifungal medication. It is used to treat:
- Fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails
- Vaginal and oral candidiasis (yeast infections)
- Chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis
- Systemic fungal infections (under close medical supervision)
It works by interfering with the production of fungal cell membranes, leading to the death of the fungus. It is available as a tablet, cream or powder.
Take Ketofung Tablet with a full meal to improve absorption. Swallow the tablet whole with water, do not crush or chew. Take it consistently at the same time each day. Always follow your doctor’s instructions and complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve.
Apply 2% Cream to the affected and immediate surrounding area
The correct dosage of Ketofung Tablet depends on the type and severity of the infection. General guidelines are:
- Adults: 200 mg once daily; may be increased to 400 mg in severe cases
- Duration: Typically, 1–4 weeks for skin infections, longer for nail or systemic infections
- Not recommended during pregnancy or for children unless prescribed by a doctor
Correct dosage for cream: 2% Cream applied to the affected and immediate surrounding area once a day for 2 weeks.
