What is Nizoral Cream?

Nizoral Cream contains Ketoconazole, a potent antifungal medication. It is highly effective against a wide range of fungi and yeasts, including those that cause dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. It is used to relieve:

  • Athlete’s foot and jock itch

  • Ringworm (tinea corporis)

  • Seborrheic dermatitis (greasy, crusty, or scaly skin)

  • Pityriasis versicolor (small, discolored skin patches)

  • Fungal sweat rash (candidiasis) It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes. This causes the membrane to become “leaky,” effectively killing the fungus and stopping the spread of infection.

How do I use Nizoral Cream?

  • Cleanse and dry the affected area thoroughly before application. Apply a thin layer of cream to the infected spot and the immediate surrounding skin, rubbing it in gently. To prevent reinfection or spreading, wash your hands immediately after use.

What dosage do I take?

The frequency and duration of use depend on the specific condition being treated:

  • Seborrheic Dermatitis: Apply once or twice daily for 2 to 4 weeks.

  • Jock Itch/Ringworm: Apply once daily for 3 to 4 weeks.

  • Athlete’s Foot: Apply once or twice daily for 4 to 6 weeks.

  • Pityriasis Versicolor: Apply once daily for 2 to 3 weeks.

  • Note: Continue using the cream for a few days after all symptoms have cleared to prevent the infection from returning.

What are the potential side effect?

Nizoral is generally well tolerated, but some users may experience localized skin reactions. Possible side effects include:

  • A mild burning or stinging sensation

  • Redness, itching, or skin irritation

  • Dryness or oiliness of the treated skin

  • Blistering or peeling in rare cases If you experience a severe rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing, stop use and seek medical attention. Store at room temperature (below 25°C) and keep out of reach of children.
