Nurofen Suspension contains ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is used in children to relieve:
- Fever and high temperature
- Teething and toothache
- Sore throat
- Earache
- Cold and flu symptoms
It works by reducing inflammation and blocking pain signals in the body, while also lowering fever.
How do I take Nurofen Suspension for Children?
Shake the bottle well before each use. Measure the correct dose using the supplied oral syringe or measuring spoon. Give after food or milk to reduce the risk of stomach upset. Do not exceed the stated dose and always follow your doctor’s advice or the label instructions.
What dosage do I take?
The correct dosage of Nurofen Suspension depends on the child’s age and weight. General guidelines are:
- 3–6 months (weighing over 5 kg): 2.5 ml, 3 times in 24 hours
- 6–12 months: 2.5 ml, 3–4 times in 24 hours
- 1–3 years: 5 ml, 3 times in 24 hours
- 4–6 years: 7.5 ml (5 ml + 2.5 ml), 3 times in 24 hours
- 7–9 years: 10 ml, 3 times in 24 hours
- Leave at least 6–8 hours between doses
- Do not give more than 3 doses in 24 hours
- Not suitable for infants under 3 months unless advised by a doctor
