Description
P-Alaxin is a fixed-dose anti-malaria (artemisinin combination therapy), containing Dihydroartemisinin (Fast acting) and Piperaquine phosphate (Long acting). It is used to treat:
- Uncomplicated malaria
- Malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum
- Drug-resistant malaria strains
It works by rapidly clearing parasites from the bloodstream (dihydroartemisinin) and maintaining suppression to prevent reinfection (piperaquine).
Take P-Alaxin with food, preferably a fatty meal or milk, to improve absorption. Swallow the tablets whole with water do not crush or chew. Take once daily at the same time for 3 consecutive days. Complete the full course even if you feel better. Always follow the doctor’s instructions.
The correct dosage of P-Alaxin depends on body weight and doctor’s recommendation. General guideline for adults and older children:
- Adult dose: 2–3 tablets once daily for 3 days
- Children: Dose based on weight (doctor or pharmacist will calculate)
- Do not exceed the prescribed dose
P-Alaxin is generally well-tolerated.
