Description
P-ALAXIN is a curative antimalarial oral suspension containing:
- Dihydroartemisinin 80 mg
- Piperaquine Phosphate 640 mg (per 80 ml bottle)
It is used to treat:
- Acute, uncomplicated malaria in children
- Malaria infections caused by Plasmodium falciparum, including resistant strains
It works by combining two potent antimalarial agents: Dihydroartemisinin kills parasites rapidly in the blood, while Piperaquine provides longer-term suppression to prevent re-infection.
Shake the bottle well before each use. Measure the correct dose using the measuring cup or spoon provided. Administer once daily after food, preferably with a fatty meal or milk to improve absorption. Complete the full 3-day course, even if the child feels better. Follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions exactly.
The dosage is weight-based and should be determined by a healthcare provider. General pediatric guideline (approximate):
- Children 5 kg:12.5ml
- Children 7 kg: 17.5ml
- Children 10kg: 25ml
- Total volume: Bottle contains 80 ml after reconstitution
- Do not exceed the recommended dose
- Not recommended for infants under 5 kg unless prescribed
