What is P-ALAXIN Suspension?

P-ALAXIN is a curative antimalarial oral suspension containing:

  • Dihydroartemisinin 80 mg
  • Piperaquine Phosphate 640 mg (per 80 ml bottle)

It is used to treat:

  • Acute, uncomplicated malaria in children
  • Malaria infections caused by Plasmodium falciparum, including resistant strains

It works by combining two potent antimalarial agents: Dihydroartemisinin kills parasites rapidly in the blood, while Piperaquine provides longer-term suppression to prevent re-infection.

How do I take P-ALAXIN Suspension?

Shake the bottle well before each use. Measure the correct dose using the measuring cup or spoon provided. Administer once daily after food, preferably with a fatty meal or milk to improve absorption. Complete the full 3-day course, even if the child feels better. Follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions exactly.

 

What dosage do I take?

The dosage is weight-based and should be determined by a healthcare provider. General pediatric guideline (approximate):

  • Children 5 kg:12.5ml
  • Children 7 kg: 17.5ml
  • Children 10kg: 25ml
  • Total volume: Bottle contains 80 ml after reconstitution
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose
  • Not recommended for infants under 5 kg unless prescribed
What are the potential side effect?

P-ALAXIN Suspension is generally well-tolerated.Common side effects include:

  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Sleep disturbances

Rare and serious side effects include:

  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)
