What is Tixylix?
Tixylix is a paediatric cough syrup available in various formulations to:
- Soothe dry, tickly coughs or chesty (productive) coughs
- Ease irritation in the throat and airways
- Help children sleep better when coughing
Different versions may contain ingredients like glycerol (for dry cough) or guaifenesin (for mucus loosening).
How do I take Tixylix?
Shake the bottle well before each use.
- Use the measuring spoon or syringe provided
- Give after meals or at bedtime, if advised
- Encourage the child to stay hydrated to aid mucus clearing
What dosage do I take?
Dosage depends on child’s age and the product type:
- 3 months–5 years: 2.5–5 ml up to 3–4 times daily
- 6–12 years: 5 ml up to 3–4 times daily
- Do not exceed stated dose or give more than 4 times in 24 hours
- Not suitable for children under 3 months
What are the potential side effect?
Tixylix is generally safe when used correctly.Common side effects include:
- Mild drowsiness (some formulas)
- Upset stomach
- Allergic skin reaction (rare)
