Description
Mycoten Plus is a dual-action prescription treatment manufactured by Drugfield Pharmaceuticals. It combines two powerful active ingredients: Clotrimazole (an antifungal) and Clindamycin (an antibiotic). This combination allows it to effectively tackle mixed infections. It is primarily used to:
Treat Mixed Infections: Targets both fungal (yeast) and bacterial causes of vaginal discomfort.
Relieve Symptoms: Provides rapid relief from intense itching, burning sensations, and abnormal vaginal discharge (infective leucorrhea).
Manage Specific Conditions: Highly effective against Bacterial Vaginosis, Vaginal Candidiasis (Thrush), and Trichomoniasis.
Combat Non-Specific Vaginitis: Clears infections where the exact cause may be a combination of different microorganisms.
This cream is for intravaginal use only. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application. Use the provided applicator to measure the exact dose (typically to the mark indicated). Lie on your back with knees drawn up, insert the applicator deeply but gently into the vagina, and depress the plunger to release the cream. It is best applied at bedtime to ensure the medication remains in place for the maximum duration. Thoroughly wash the applicator with warm, soapy water after every use.
The recommended dosage is:
Adults: One applicator-full (approx. 5g) inserted once daily at night, usually for a course of 3 to 7 consecutive days.
Consistency: Complete the full course of treatment even if your symptoms disappear after a day or two to prevent the infection from returning.
Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not use extra cream to make up for a missed application.
Mycoten Plus is generally well-tolerated, but some individuals may experience:
Mild stinging, burning, or localized skin irritation upon application.
-
Sexual Activity: Avoid sexual intercourse during treatment, as the cream’s ingredients can weaken latex condoms and diaphragms, making them ineffective.
